Among the new and exciting establishments popping up in downtown Greenville, is Phil Gregory's condo at the Bookends off Main Street.

Although Gregory, founder of Gregory Pest Control, used to live off of Main Street, he moved to Thornblade Avenue before moving back downtown.

"I got my first taste of downtown there (Main Street) and decided this is where I wanted to be," Gregory said. "You've got the churches, restaurants, park and the Peace Center. Everything's here."

Gregory said he chose the Bookends because it's rated by the EPA as the only "true green building" in downtown Greenville.

"Here, I'm closer to the West End," Gregory said. "Everything seems to be going in that direction and I wanted to be closer to it."

Gregory worked with a decorator, Barbara Dalton, to accent his home. The beige-striped pillows served as their focal point and from there they chose the surrounding colors, fabrics and accessories.

Hints of wildlife can be traced throughout the condo. Gregory says his favorite room is the den. It's covered with ostrich-print wallpaper and hanging over a cozy sitting area outside his bedroom is a painting of two dogs.

"I got this painting from right here in town, and I'll be recovering the chairs in an animal print fabric as well," Gregory said.

When all of his touches are complete, Gregory said he is "looking forward to entertaining."
