Stepping into Rich Tomlinson's Greenville town home, the first word that comes to mind is ambiance. The furniture is sleek, the art is avant-garde and candles abound. And they're not just for show"Why have them if you're not going to light them and enjoy them?" Tomlinson says.
The place has served Tomlinson well in the year he's lived there and he's molded it to fit his tastes - while candles are plentiful, clutter is not.
The self-described "neat-freak" says he tries to keep his stuff to a minimum and if he doesn't use something within three or four months, he throws it away.
Tomlinson's minimalist cleaning style matches his decorating style. He says he was trying to create a slick, contemporary feel with his home, "but nothing over the top."
"I am not an antiques kind of guy," he says. "I don't want anything in my house older than I am."
