From the outside, Kathy and Pedro Van Hoecke's house in Spartanburg is unassuming, but inside, it's a makeshift journal of their world travels. The dιcor is heavily influenced by Asian culture - the couple lived in Singapore for several years - but items span the globe.
"It's the look and the depth of culture," Pedro says. "Each piece is handcrafted so it's also our way of supporting the people over there."
Both value feng shui and elements of the ancient art are apparent throughout. It's also part of the reason they bought their house, Pedro says.
"The front door can never face the back door. Because money will come in and money will go out."
Even though the couple still travels frequently and will move to England for a three-year stint later this year, they plan on keeping their house.
"This is our home," Pedro says. "The idea is to settle here."
